Velora Mae Wieters

Velora Mae Wieters was born April 18, 1932 at rural Hollenberg Kansas and passed away peacefully on 12-22-2023 at Hanover Hospital.
She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church rural Hanover.  She graduated from Hanover High School and was employed at the Income Tax Bureau in Topeka KS.  She was married to Harold Wieters May 11, 1952.  They lived in Columbus Georgia where he was in the Army.  They came home to live on the family farm near Lanham Nebraska.
She taught Sunday school and was on church council.  She was a member and Treasurer of Hanover Legion Auxiliary.  She was employed at Odell Public School as manager and cook in food service 1971 to 1997.  Her interests included spending time with family and helping with the farming and gardening.
She is survived by daughter Sandra Drinkgern and husband Scott of Bremen Kansas, Granddaughters Julie and Gene Doebele of Hanover Kansas, Jenny and Cody Sump of Randolph Kansas, Joni and Dean Koch of Axtell Kansas, Jana and Brandon Gorr of Warrenton Oregon, Grandson, Ryan and Donna Drinkgern of Bremen Kansas.  Great-Grandchildren Paige and Austin Diederich, Riley and Payton Manley, Macy and Noah Garber, Philip Doebele, Coby Doebele, Landon, Morgan, Adelyn and Haven Sump, Wyatt and Lenny Koch, Bailee, Mason and Parker Gorr.
She was preceded in death by her infant son Gary Dale in 1960, Husband Harold in 2014, parents Walter and Ella (Holle) Meyer, sisters Lucy Love, Darlene Iles and brother Walter(Sonny) Meyer.
Many special nieces and nephews and neighbors.  She was the most loving mom and grandma that anyone could ever have.

Services will be Thursday, December 28th at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church - Lanham, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday December 27th from 5 - 7 - Viewing and signing the guest book at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Memorials will go to the Family's Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.
