Vera M. Cossel

Vera Mae (Schafer) Cossel of Fairbury, Nebraska was born April 14, 1924 at Garden City, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Schafer and grew up on a farm north of Hubbell, Nebraska.  She entered into her eternal life Thursday, April 3, 2014 while living at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron at the age of 89 years.

On October 19, 1945 she married Walter Endorf and they made their home near Tobias, Nebraska.  To this union, three children were born: Doyle, Rosanne, and Dennis.  Vera married Bob Cossel on August 14, 1982 and they lived in Fairbury, Nebraska.  Vera loved going camping, dancing, playing cards, playing the accordion, and quilting to mention a few.  She also loved to have a beer or two on occasion with Bob.  Vera was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury, Nebraska.

She will be forever remembered by her husband Bob of Fairbury, son Doyle and wife Ramona Endorf of Fairbury, daughter Rosanne Newell of Byron, and Dennis and wife LaRae Endorf of Fairbury, step-daughter Sandie and Kelly Davis of Fairbury, step-son Randy and Alberta Cossel of McFarland, Kansas, sister-in-law Ella Schafer of Fairbury, 5 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 16 step greatgrandchildren, and 1 step great-great grandchild.

Services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury with burial in Fairbury Cemetery.  The family will greet friends Monday April 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Family's Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of the arrangements.
