Vernon L. Paneitz, 88 of Beatrice, NE, formerly of Fairbury, passed away February 28, 2017 at Good Samaritan in Beatrice. He was born to Clarence & Hulda (Schroeder) Paneitz at Hampton, NE on February 25, 1929. He was a Korean War Army Veteran.
After Vern returned from the Korean War, he joined his father at Paneitz Auto Salvage. He owned and operated the business until he retired in 2006. You can go far and wide in Nebraska and Kansas, and always find someone who recognizes the name Paneitz Salvage and has something great to say about Vern. He loved his customers and friends, and always dealt fairly and honestly. Vern managed his business by the Golden Rule.
The only time Vern was away from his business is when he and Jean enjoyed camping and fishing. One of his greatest joys was taking his grandchildren along on those camping and fishing trips, and later enjoying those with his great grandchildren.
Survivors include Wife: Jean Paneitz of Beatrice, Children: Michael, Keith, Roger, Mary, Tamara & Douglas, brother Marvin & Joyce Paneitz, grandchildren Tristin, Zizi, Jacelle, Amanda & Christopher, great grandchildren Haylee, Braden, Desirae, Peyton & Sydney.
Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 am Friday March 3, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Beatrice. Burial will be at 1:30 pm Friday March 3rd at the Fairbury Cemetery-Fairbury, NE. Memorials to Media Fund – First Baptist Church in Beatrice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
