Violet P. Kellie

Violet Pearl (June) Kellie passed away on August 9, 2017, at the age of 86. Violet lived in Endicott, Nebraska most of her life. She was born on March 22, 1931, in Reynolds, Nebraska. Her parents were Francis (Jack) June and Goldie (Branson) June. She had one sister Twila (June) Porter. Violet was married on November 14,1947 to Clyde L. Kellie in Endicott, Nebraska where they lived most of their married life with the exception of a few years living in Greely, CO. where he managed a furniture factory for Jimmie Kellie, Clyde’s dad.

Violet went to school in the red brick school house in Endicott, Nebraska, walking 6 miles each day. She worked for many years at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital starting in the Kitchen, then to Ward Clerk, CNA, Scrub Nurse, and ending her career working in the Home Health Department before retiring. Violet was well known for her Gardening abilities, growing huge vegetables and exotic flowers. Her cooking abilities were also famous, especially her Macaroni and Cheese dish, along with her pies at Thanksgiving, which were often referred to as the amen corner as the grandchildren lined up to fill their plates.


Violet was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Goldie June, husband Clyde Kellie, and infant daughter Becky Lynn Kellie.

She is survived by her sister Twila (June) Porter of Fairbury Nebraska, son James Kellie and wife Lanette of Larned KS, daughter Marcene Brackle and husband Robert of Fairbury, NE., 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Endicott United Methodist Church at Endicott, NE with Pastor Doug Griger officiating. Memorials have been established to the Endicott Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
