Virginia Frances Roskilly

Virginia Frances Roskilly of Fairbury, Ne passed away on February 1st, 2025, at Jefferson County Hospital surrounded by family. Born August 25, 1928, to William and Lydia Lawrence in Hardin County, KY. She married Joseph B. Roskilly on April 8, 1950.

Virginia loved to sew clothes for her family, crochet afghans and enjoyed reading. In later years, she loved to “listen to stories on her (Talking) book. She also had a large collection of shoes. She was a lifelong member of the VFW in Fairbury and the American Legion in Steele City, Ne.

She is survived by their six children: Roger D Roskilly (Jayne), Alice K Strayer, Joseph D Roskilly (Kay), Susan B. Stuchlik (Ed), Mary A. Wienke (Brian), and Brian A. Roskilly (Vicki). 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister Jane Whitaker, sisters-in-law June Roskilly, Zona Quintana (Clint) and Rosemary Roskilly and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, brother Bill, sister Mary Lou and son in law Jim Strayer.

Viewing will be Thursday, Feb 6th 2025 from 6:00 till 8:00 at Gerdes Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Funeral service will be Friday, Feb 7th, 2025, at 10:30 at Gerdes Meyer Funeral Home. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
