William Lee (Bill) Disney was born August 23, 1938 on a farm North West of Odell, Nebraska. He was the 6th of 9 children born to Benjamin Levi and Marjorie (Rosecrans) Disney. He departed this life October 23, 2013.
Preceding him in death were he parents, twin granddaughters, Crystal and Rebecca Phelan; Grandson, Shawn Disney and Brothers, Norman and Lyle.
Bill graduated from Davenport High School – class of 1957. He was united in marriage to Pauline L. Knigge) June 12, 1960 in the Presbyterian Church at Alexandria, Ne. They celebrated 53 years of marriage. To this union 4 children were born; Cynthia Lee Disney Phelan, Thomas Lynn Disney, Curtis LeRoy and Christine Louise Disney Phillips. He was also the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, 4 children and spouses, grandchildren, and spouses and great grandchildren. Brothers and Sisters; Mabel (Ron) Simoneau of Superior Ne., Othal (Bud) - (LaVone) Disney of Golden Co., Don (Dollie) Disney of Carlton, NE, Arlene(Don) Smith of DeWitt, Ne., Ron (Linda)Disney of Grand Island, Ne., LeRoy( Judy) Disney of Alexandria, Ne. Sister-in-law Ruth Disney of Superior, Ne., Sister-in-law Jenny Disney of Lincoln Ne. and numerous nieces and nephews and Sisters and Brothers in-laws.
Bill and Pauline started their married life together in Grand Island and Aurora, Ne. They spent time in DeWitt before moving to Golden Co. in 1974. Bill was a maintenance man for Coors for 29 years. At his retirement in 2000 they returned to Alexandria to spend their retirement years. While in Colorado, Bill and Pauline spent numerous hours in the mountains fishing, hiking, rock hunting, camping and enjoying the beautiful mountains in God’s country. While residing in Alexandria, he proved to be a true and loyal friend. He provided rides, scooped walks, opened the church for funerals and activities, turning up heat and air as needed, picked up mail for shut-ins, and helped with community activities.
Bill served the fire departments in DeWitt Volunteer, Pleasantview where he was acting chief, Coors Fire Brigade and First Aid team. He was a sports fan, especially Big Red Nebraska, he loved the Nuggets, Avalanche and Broncos. He served as a Cub Scout Master.
Holidays were always a “Fabulous Family Celebration”. Bills love for his family was surpassed only by his love for mankind. Bill had an ability to “attract” children. He loved children and children loved him. Bill was loyal and dedicated to the annual Knigge Klan Reunion at Lake McConaughy. Providing tents or opening their camper to people who needed a place to stay.
Bill will be missed by family and friends. Bill will be greatly missed.
Services for William “Bill” Disney will be Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Ne. with Pastor Lana Likens officiating. Burial will be in the Alexandria Cemetery and Memorials will go to the family’s choice. There will be a family visitation at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home on Friday, October 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
