Wilton Thornburg

Wilton Thornburg Jr. 86 of Fairbury, passed away Sunday in Lincoln NE. He was born at Western, NE to Wilton and Lela Lewis Thornburg Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother and brother Lester and sisters Beulah and Phyllis.

He is survived by his wife Doris, daughters Cynthia Stockwell and husband Mike of Plattsmouth, NE, Dixie Bolender of Lincoln, NE, Debbie Ripa and husband Doug of Wilber, NE, Diane Peperkorn and husband Dan of DeWitt, NE, Michelle Young and husband Wilbur of DeWitt, NE, sons Jim Thornburg and Susie Godfrey of Ruston, LA and Steven Thornburg of Fairbury, NE. 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Warren Schoming officiating. Burial will be in the Steele City Cemetery, Steele City, NE. Memorials are to the family’s choice. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
